It has been about 11 years since my last post. Life got away from me. I'm still doing family history as a hobby and as a part-time job. I also have a full time job. Thanks to all the advances in technology, even with my more limited time, I have made multiple awesome discoveries. (Yay! Full-text search on FamilySearch! Newspapers! More digitization!)
My discoveries include:
- The death year of my 6th great-grandfather (Thanks to Louisiana estate papers)
- The death year of the same great-grandfather's youngest brother (Thank you to the older brother who appears in both brothers' estate papers and helps establish relationship.)
- The death of that same youngest brother's wife's second husband. (Boy is THAT a story and a half!)
- Proof that that same great-grandfather did NOT have a daughter, and suspicion that the purported daughter probably belongs to his youngest brother.
- A census record listed as neighbors the following shirt-tail relations:
- The first husband and family of the future second wife of a 3rd great-grandfather
- The future spouse of the daughter of said 3rd great-grandfather
- The future spouse of the half-sister of a great-grandfather
- Filling in "blank" and low information spots on the family tree via tree hints, newspaper articles, and the awesome, new full-text search on Family Search, powered by the LLM.
